From the deck of the fishing pontoon
Weather has been HOT the last few weeks and we have been chasing whitebass and yellowbass. Fishing has been up and down but some of the KnB toon’s catches have been very good. Starting combo trips soon for crappie/whitebass and what-ever else bites. As always, the white and yellow bass have been whacking the SteelShad bladebaits and Ken’s TBC inline spinners. Depends on the water flow and their mood which bait they prefer on any given day. Once the water cools a bit down from 85 to 86 degrees to start the mornings the crappie will start schooling up for the fall feed.
Lake conditions
The TVA has the water level staying at about 357.0 elevation and are slowly bringing it down to winter pool. Pulling water at 71,000 cfs right now. Check the latest levels at the link below.

Crappies
Haven’t chased crappies since June but will begin pulling crankbaits for them shortly. We will put out another report when start fishing for crops!
Whitebass and Yellowbass
We have been catching some big white bass and big yellow bass while casting the last couple of weeks. SteelShad bladebaits and inline spinners worked off the bottom in a yo-yo fashion has worked great! They are aggressive fish and love to chase their food. We find schools of fish and bait and use my spot lock on my Ulterra trolling motor and start casting.
Catfish
We have caught some channel and bluecats up to 8 pounds. A lot of fun catching cats on a medium rod while fishing for whitebass.
Largemouth and smallmouth
Have had several nice keeper sized Largemouth fishing the ledges for whitebass. All the fish have been chasing the same schools of bait so you never know which fish you’ll hang on your next cast.
Bluegill and Red Ear
Haven’t fish for them but have caught a few who think they are bigger than they actually are.
ATTABOY:
Captain Rich was wonderful with my kids ages 14 and 4. He had everything ready to go for us and knew the best spots for the current conditions. We caught a ton of fish and he even cleaned them all for us. Booking was easy and he was very responsive to my questions. I highly recommend him! We will be back! —Kelly Koester
